You Must Make a Marketing Plan!

Every day I get asked the same question…. “What do I do to get started in Optometry marketing?  I hear so many things that I don’t know where to start or who to trust or what to do first”.

My answer is always the same.  The first thing you must do is to have a plan to follow and then follow the plan.  I know that this is an old cliché that everyone has heard but it never has been more true than right here.

I do not have exact statistics on this but I would guestimate that about 5% of the Optometrists that I talk to have any type of marketing plan or marketing budget.  What you need to understand is that this plan does not need to be perfect, but serves as a starting point.  Consider this Optometric marketing plan to always be a “work in progress”.   As you start to learn more about marketing, this document should be updated on a regular basis and soon will become a very specific action plan that must be followed.
